As you enter this once small community on Old Hwy 52 you will see the sign "Welcome to Welcome". The town has grown to over 5,000 residents. which is the home of Edna Z Prentis of Davidson Co, North Carolina. The town got it's name from a sign that was posted on the general store which was owned by Mrs. Prentis' father., Emanual Jackson Zimmerman.

Born in the rural area of North Carolina,  Edna Zimmerman Prentis is a musician, writes poetry, paints,  designs cards, and much more of moving simplicity and directness. Her works resonate with a love of God, family, home and country that reflect her heritage. She has dedicated her retirement life in preserving the history of her home town.
